Reiki is a Japanese word which means “Universal Life Energy”. We are all born with it.
Reiki was brought to us before the Second World War by a man named Mikao Usui. He was president and minister of the Christian School in Kyoto, Japan. Through his studies of many religions, prayer, and meditation, he realized that a person has to be healed of spirit as well as body. His five principles of life: today I give thanks for my many blessings, just for today I will not worry, today I will not be angry, today I will do my work honestly, and today I will be kind to my neighbor and to every living thing.
This healing touch is transmitted by the healing touch from a Reiki master to a student. That simple. It’s the healing power of God that is within us all that does the work. Not to be confused with ego.
I have not only done Reiki on humans, but on animals, plants and even for difficult situations such as relationship issues. And not only adults can give, but so can children and animals. In my next article, I will share some wonderful stories of Reiki in my 18 years of giving and receiving.
Until then just remember – love enough to care and care enough to reach out and touch. When you place your hands on another with the utmost of good intentions, beautiful things happen.
Love and light to all.
