Who We Are
Synchronized Kneads is a Pilates Studio which integrates Post Injury Rehabiliation, and Functional Movement to bring a unique, individualized focus to the personalized workout. When most people are released from physical therapy, they have rehabilitated their injury, however, they have now lost some of their movement patterns during that time. A Functional Movement Screen (FMS) is conducted on the client in order to identify these patterns. Now both the client and the teacher know what "the weak link" is in the body. The FMS is a great tool not only for the teacher but for the client. Especially when a client believes that their current workout routine is keeping them fit. So the question is "did my injury come about because I move poorly, or do I move poorly because of my injury?"
A qualified Fitness Teacher/Coach should know that you cannot continue to strengthen improper movement patterns unless you want to become a stronger, dysfunctional person with chronic pain. Body movement must be trained - not body parts. We believe that a good teacher trains you where your current fitness level is, not where they want you to be in three years.
Our staff is certified in Pilates, Post-Injury Rehabilitation, and Functional Movement. We also offer Therapeutic Massage, Cranio-Sacral Therapy, and Reiki.
Pilates Exercise
Pilates evolved from techniques created by Joseph H. Pilates more than 80 years ago. Pilates exercise, when taught along with other corrective movement methods and proper pelvic stability, will dramatically improve strength, flexibility, balance, coordination and posture. Choreography is not what makes pilates effective - nor is taking it to the next level of difficult movement. Range of motion in all movement whether it is matwork or on the equipment should match your core strength level.
Our studio is equipped with reformers, Cadillac, Wunda Chair, Ladder Barrel, and Step Barrels.
We offer privates, duets, and trios.
Post Injury Rehabilitation
(Medical Exercise Specialist)
As fitness professionals, our aim is to work cooperatively with medical professionals to develop safe and effective fitness programs for special populations and post-rehab clients. The goal for integrating post injury rehabilitation with full body movement is to develop more positive functional movement patterns. www.postrehab.com
TRX Basic Training
The TRX Basic Training workout is designed to introduce you to the benefits of Suspension Training bodyweight exercise. You will experience a total-body functional workout where you control the intensity of the exercises. The ease of adjustment and quick transitions from one exercise to the next creates a time-efficient, fully body workout. www.trxtraining.com

Cranio-Sacral Therapy
The craniosacral system consists of the membranes and cerebrospinal fluid that surround and protect the brain and spinal cord. It extends from the bones of the skull, face and mouth, which make up the cranium, down to the sacrum or tailbone. Craniosacral therapy can help treat imbalances in the brain and spinal cord which can lead to any number of sensory, motor or neurological disabilities. These problems can include chronic pain, eye difficulties, scoliosis, motor-coordination impairments, learning disabilities and many other health challenges. www.upledger.com
FMS Screen
How it Works
Simplifying MovementPut simply, the FMS is a ranking and grading system that documents movement patterns that are key to normal function. By screening these patterns, the FMS readily identifies functional limitations and asymmetries. These are issues that can reduce the effects of functional training and physical conditioning and distort body awareness.
The FMS generates the Functional Movement Screen Score, which is used to target problems and track progress. This scoring system is directly linked to the most beneficial corrective exercises to restore mechanically sound movement patterns.
Exercise professionals monitor the FMS score to track progress and to identify those exercises that will be most effective to restore proper movement and build strength in each individual.
What it Does
Widespread BenefitsThe FMS simplifies the concept of movement and its impact on the body. Its streamlined system has benefits for everyone involved - individuals, exercise professionals, and physicians.
Communication - The FMS utilizes simple language, making it easy for individuals, exercise professionals, and physicians to communicate clearly about progress and treatment.
Evaluation - The screen effortlessly identifies asymmetries and limitations, diminishing the need for extensive testing and analysis.
Standardization - The FMS creates a functional baseline to mark progress and provides a means to measure performance.
Safety - The FMS quickly identifies dangerous movement patterns so that they can be addressed. It also indicates an individual's readiness to perform exercise so that realistic goals can be set and achieved.
Corrective Strategies - The FMS can be applied at any fitness level, simplifying corrective strategies of a wide array of movement issues. It identifies specific exercises based on individual FMS scores to instantly create customized treatment plans. functionalmovement.com
